The Virginia Living Museum is a combination aquarium, native wildlife park, science museum, planetarium, and botanical preserve. Located in Newport News, Virginia, the museum opened in 1987 and was the first museum of its kind east of the Mississippi.[1]

About Virginia Living Museum

Admission prices for the Virginia Living Museum are $17 for adults, $13 for children ages 3-12, and free for children under the age of three. Visitors that wish to visit the planetarium as well must pay an additional $4. Parking at the museum is provided free of charge in the museum's adjacent parking lots.[3]

The Virginia Living Museum is open during the summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Winter hours are 9 a.m. to 5 .m. Monday through Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.[3]

The Virginia Living Museum showcases numerous animals, including otters, coyotes, raccoons, beavers, bobcats, red wolves, loggerhead sea turtles, longnose gar, snakes, lizards, and alligators.[4]
