Pikes Peak - America's Mountain is open 363 days a year, and is located in Cascade, Colorado, which is outside of Colorado Springs.[1] Pikes Peak, which was named after Zebulon Montgomery Pike, was obtained in 1803 as part of the Louisiana Purchase. Written records record the first ascent of Pikes Peak as taking place on July 14, 1820.[2]

About Pikes Peak

Pikes Peak - America's Mountain is open year round (weather permitting), and closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Operating hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Uphill Gates, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Downhill Gates. Admission prices are $10 for adults 16 and over and $4 for children 6-15. Children under six are admitted free.[4]

There are numerous recreational activities available for consumers at Pikes Peak. This includes fishing, hiking along the numerous trails, snowshoeing during the winter, bellyboats, and wildlife viewing.[5] Some of the animals visitors may see include black bear, yellow-bellied marmots, or whistle pigs, and bighorn sheep.[6]

  • Printable coupons for Pikes Peak - America's Mountain are available through tourist websites like the official website for the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau. The coupon is good for $2 off the entrance fee to Pikes Peak park.[7]
  • An annual individual pass or an annual vehicle pass are available, providing recipients with free admission for an entire year. Individual passes cost $125 and permit the individual to get in free for a year. Vehicle passes costs $250, and permit everyone in the vehicle free admission for a year.[8]
  • Large groups are eligible for discounts. Large group discounts are $7 off for adults and $2 off for children from December 1 through April 30 and $8 off for adults and $2 off for children from May 1 through November 30. In order to qualify, groups must submit a written request to selliott@springsgov.com with the date the group plans on visiting, as well as group and organization information and contact information. The request must be sent at least 10 days before the group plans on visiting.[3]
  • Dollars off discounted admission is available in the form of a carload discount rate. The cost is $35 a car with up to five passengers. Each additional adult passenger costs $7 and each additional child passenger costs $2.[4]
