Pennhurst Asylum originally opened in 1908 as the Pennhurst Home for the Feeble Minded and Epileptic, later shortened to Pennhurst State School. The facility closed permanently in 1986 following a court order, as a lawsuit was filed against the school for mental and physical abuse to its patients. Today, it is transformed every September, October, and November into a haunted attraction.[1]
