The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a non-profit organization that was formed by Spencer Penrose.[2] During the 2011-12 season, the zoo welcomed more than 600,000 visitors, the most annual visitors in the zoo's history.[3]

About Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is open daily during the peak season, May 1 through Labor Day, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The zoo is open during the off season, from Labor Day through April 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission prices during the peak season are $17.25 for adults, $12.25 for children 3-11, $15.25 for seniors 65 and over, and free for children under age three. Prices during the off season are $14.25 for adults, $10.25 for children, and $12.25 for seniors.[5]

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is home to almost 800 animals, including giraffe, meerkats, zebra, mountain goats, wolves, lemurs, leopards, penguins, pythons, and monkeys.[6] In addition to the animal exhibits, the zoo also offers rides, giraffe feedings, animal cams, a gift shop, and food.[7]

  • A printable coupon good for $2 off zoo admission is available from the official website of the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau.[8] The zoo's official website also offers a printable $2 off coupon when guests complete the "Zoo Keeper Training Game."[9]
  • Consumers who visit the zoo with a group of 15 or more people receive up to 25 percent off zoo admission. Adults pay $12, seniors pay $10, and children pay $5.50.
  • The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo also offers military personnel discounts. During the peak season, military personnel pay $14.25 for adult tickets, and $9.25 for child tickets. During the off season, military personnel pay $11.25 for adult tickets and $7.25 for child tickets. This is a discount of $3 per ticket. In addition, active duty military personnel also save $10 on a Cheyenne Mountain Zoo membership.[9]
  • The "Discounts & Promotions" section of the official website to learn about recent savings opportunities.[9]
  • Discounts are available for zoo admission when visitors stay at select area hotels. Zoo/hotel packages are available for those staying at The Broadmoor, the Cheyenne Mountain Resort, the Crowne Plaza Colorado Springs, The Courtyard Marriott, and the Embassy Suites Hotels Colorado Springs.[10]
  • Visitors who bring in their old cell phones to recycle will save $2 on admission.[9]
  • Coupons for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo can also be obtained through the zoo's Facebook page. Visitors who "Like" the Facebook page receive a $2 off coupon. Facebook fans will also receive exclusive discounts and offers throughout the year.[11]
  • An annual membership to the zoo is available for one up front cost and includes free admission privileges for an entire year. Additional perks include $1 off on Mountain Sky Ride tickets, 25 percent off a giraffe frequent feeding card, and 10 percent off purchases made at the zoo gift shop.[12]
